The Pokémon Company has launched Pokémon Game On!, a new initiative designed to make Pokémon battles and the Trading Card Game easier to approach for players across Asia. The program was announced this week on the official Pokémon TCG website for the region, alongside the opening of the 2026-27 Pokémon Asia Championship Series, and it arrives with an official site, an event map, and a set of promo rewards planned for September.
Described as an effort to make Pokémon Battles “even more fun and accessible for anyone looking for a new challenge,” the initiative covers Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand, with dedicated event pages now live in all seven regions. The company says the goal is to bring the joy of meeting new players, the satisfaction of reaching a new goal, and the thrill of competitive battles to everyone. The centerpiece is a new official website with an event map that sorts activities by experience level, so newcomers, casual players, and competitive trainers can each find events that fit them.
The Game On! Event Map and Promo Rewards
On the beginner track, the map highlights the New Trainer Journey, official Beginner’s Session tutorials held at Pokémon TCG Gym shops, and the Pokémon TCG Academia series. Players who clear a Beginner’s Session receive a three-card set featuring Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly with a special Beginner’s Session mark. Casual players can join TCG Gym Battles at officially certified card shops, while the Premier Ball League serves as the large-scale event that kicks off the competitive side of the season.
Two promo distributions start on September 1. A Pikachu promo card stamped with the Pokémon Game On! logo will be handed out at official Gym store events, including Beginner’s Sessions, Novice Challenges, and Expanded Format Battles, while supplies last. A Game On! logo sticker will also go to participants who complete a short survey at Great Ball League events, and to side-event participants at the Premier Ball League on November 28-29. Future events and competitions will carry the Game On! branding across posters, decorations, and special prizes.
2026-27 Asia Championship Series Kicks Off September 1
The first major competition under the new branding is the 2026-27 Pokémon Asia Championship Series, which begins September 1 and runs for a full year as the region’s official competitive circuit. It features two categories, the Trading Card Game and the video game championship, known as VGC, and four tiers of tournaments: the Great Ball League, Ultra Ball League, Premier Ball League, and Master Ball League. Great Ball events are small-scale tournaments held frequently at venues such as Pokémon TCG Gyms, Ultra Ball events are medium-scale competitions hosted in each region’s major cities roughly four times per season, Premier Ball is a large-scale kickoff event, and Master Ball closes the season with one final large-scale competition that crowns the region’s strongest player.
Players accumulate League Points across all four leagues throughout the year, with each player’s total based on their eight best results. Standings are calculated once, after the Master Ball League, and the top-ranked players in each age division earn a Worlds Invite, per the official tournament guide. Registration for the Great Ball League and for the Premier Ball League’s TCG category is already open, and organizers say more information about the VGC category is on the way.
Taken together, the initiative and the new season give players a clearer path from a first tutorial session to the region’s biggest competitive stages, all under a single Game On! banner.
