Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition will launch on PS5 on October 1, Sucker Punch Productions announced on Wednesday. The $69.99 package bundles the base game with a new narrative expansion, a single-player combat survival mode, and the studio’s online co-op mode, according to the PlayStation Blog announcement.

The news lands just before the game’s one-year anniversary, and Sucker Punch says it will have much more to share about both additions in the coming weeks. Here is what the studio has confirmed so far.

Echoes of Sekigahara: Atsu’s past and present

Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara is a full narrative expansion that splits its story between the present day and flashbacks to Atsu’s time on the mainland. In the present, Atsu explores a previously unseen valley once inhabited by a figure called The Snake and his gang of loyal followers, the Vipers. In the past, players experience her role in the Battle of Sekigahara and a key moment in her life before she returned home to Ezo for her quest for vengeance.

The expansion introduces Nagato, a figure from Atsu’s past who has arrived in Ezo, along with new enemies, new heavy weapons, new armor sets and new dyes. It also adds its own trophies.

Sucker Punch has built its reputation on dense, handcrafted open worlds, and the studio’s approach remains a reference point in discussions of how the genre has evolved, as we covered in our feature on how Elden Ring changed open world design.

Most Wanted: a roguelike spin on combat survival

Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted is a brand-new single-player combat survival mode that Sucker Punch describes as its spin on a roguelike. Players accept bounties to start new runs, take down enemies to earn perks, and unlock additional characters to play as. The announcement trailer shows Atsu fighting with the dual katana, Oyuki excelling with the kusarigama, and Nagato shining with a yari.

The Complete Edition also includes Ghost of Yōtei Legends, the online co-op experience with support for up to four players and multiple modes culminating in a Raid, plus all the in-game content from the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Charm of Hokkyokusei. Buyers can start playing the main game and Legends immediately, with Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted arriving through a patch on October 1. Players who purchase by September 30 also get an early unlock of the Sakai Armor on October 1, a callback to Jin’s family armor from Ghost of Tsushima.

Owners of the base game get a free patch on October 1 even without the upgrade. It adds the Beauty of Yōtei mode, a screensaver-like view of Ezo’s environments, and quality-of-life features including the option to keep an armor set’s appearance while using another set’s stats, plus a new high-contrast accessibility option. The patch also brings new Watanabe Mode tracks, additional photo mode stamps and new New Game+ cosmetics. It rolls out October 1 globally and October 2 in some territories, including Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

The announcement rounds out a busy week of PlayStation news, following the Marvel’s Wolverine Limited Edition PS5 bundle reveal.
