Disney and Epic Games have connected the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to a new playable island in Fortnite. According to the official announcement on StarWars.com, the crossover links the theme park ride at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando and Disneyland Resort in Anaheim to an all-new Star Wars adventure called Smugglers Gambit.
The in-game island sends players to Mersa Veta Station, where they take on quests across the planet Ord Ryla to build a reputation as one of the Outer Rim’s most infamous smugglers. Progress includes leveling up and teaming up in co-op missions against pirates, Imperial remnants and dangerous wildlife. Completing the digital adventure carries over to the physical ride: riders accept a special mission from Hondo Ohnaka himself, and linking eligible Epic Games and MyDisney accounts before or after the trip unlocks a reward back inside Smugglers Gambit.
The experience starts Sunday, August 16, 2026, and is included at no additional cost with valid theme park admission. Guests accept the mission in the Disneyland app or the My Disney Experience app before riding, and the attraction registers the visit when they board the Falcon. Post-ride rewards in Fortnite include the Forsworn Trooper Outfit for eligible guests with linked accounts. Riders who cannot link accounts redeem a code inside Fortnite instead, and the game itself remains free to download on PC, console and mobile.
Lucasfilm framed the project as a test of how stories can flow across formats. “The seamless link between Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Smugglers Gambit continues that legacy, offering a groundbreaking example of how stories can flow across screens, theme park rides, and games,” said James Waugh, Senior Vice President of Franchise Story and Creative Strategy at Lucasfilm.
Theme parks as a Fortnite playground
The drop comes as Fortnite’s wider roadmap is filling out for the rest of the year. Chapter 7 Season 4, titled Override, arrives August 20 with a glitch-styled reveal trailer, as we covered in our rundown of the update. The Millennium Falcon tie-in was announced during the same D23 weekend that delivered Kingdom Hearts IV news, including its late 2027 window and Coco world, keeping Disney crossovers at the center of Epic’s seasonal strategy.
Smugglers Gambit is not the first time Star Wars has shown up in Fortnite, but it is the first time a real-world Disney attraction has directly fed into the battle royale’s reward loop. The ride connection means the crossover lives somewhere between a game update and a theme park promotion, which is exactly the hybrid ground Disney has been pushing since its original investment in Epic Games.
For players without a trip to Batuu planned, the island itself remains accessible through Fortnite’s normal game modes. The park side of the experience is the optional layer, rewarding those who can visit Galaxy’s Edge with the exclusive outfit and a reason to link their Disney and Epic accounts. With the ride tie-in active from day one of the event, Disney is betting that the promise of an exclusive in-game reward is enough to nudge park fans into Fortnite and Fortnite players into the parks.
