GungHo Online Entertainment has announced B.L.U.E. NOVA, a free-to-play cooperative PvE third-person shooter coming to PC through Steam in 2027. The publisher’s official announcement places the game on the planet DIVAL, where players fight a rogue planetary-management AI and its mechanical army.
The English B.L.U.E. NOVA Steam page describes a format that can begin with one player and grow into battles with up to 30 people. GungHo says the game will support Japanese, English, and Simplified Chinese, and will be free to play with additional in-game purchases.
A shooter that grows when players meet
B.L.U.E. NOVA is built around the R.I.N.G. system. Players can connect with allies they encounter in the field, then turn those links into a combat advantage. GungHo’s announcement describes the idea as a new cooperative experience for a bullet-heavy shooter, while the Steam listing says the group can grow as players meet other people during a mission.
That progression gives the game a different shape from a fixed squad shooter. A run can start as a solo push, then become a larger battle as more players join the same fight. The official material names a Tower Raid mode for up to 30 players, with the group facing an AI army rather than another team of human players.
The R.I.N.G. system also powers a feature called Infinite Barrage. Once players link up, they can receive buffs and fire without reloading for a period described by the game’s promotional material. That is a strong mechanical hook, but it is not yet a promise of a specific weapon class, progression system, or competitive mode. GungHo has not announced a firm 2027 release date.
DIVAL, Singula, and a Tokyo Game Show showing
The setting begins with humanity searching for a new home after learning that a superflare predicted for the year 2200 could destroy Earth. The colony project on DIVAL falls apart when the EVE management AI goes rogue, creates the Singula machines, and takes control of the planet. Players take the role of heroes working to reclaim that future.
GungHo is also tying the game to SNIVPA, its virtual YouTuber group. The publisher identified Seraphy, Rico, Logi, and JJ as B.L.U.E. NOVA heroes, and said the group’s debut single, Too Rich, Too Bold, is the theme song for the teaser video. Those details point to a launch campaign that will extend beyond the game itself, although the announcement does not confirm how the music project will affect play.
B.L.U.E. NOVA will appear at Tokyo Game Show 2026 from September 17 through September 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. GungHo plans a venue-exclusive video and limited-edition items featuring the game and SNIVPA logos. For now, the Steam page is the clearest route for players who want to follow the project, while the upcoming show should provide a better look at how the 30-player encounters work.
The concept sits in the same broad co-op conversation as Splatoon Raiders’ treasure-hunt missions and the larger-scale experimentation covered in our Elden Ring Nightreign hands-on. B.L.U.E. NOVA’s twist is that the squad is meant to form during the battle, making the moment-to-moment growth of a team central to the pitch.
