Xbox has confirmed the second September 2026 Game Pass wave, adding Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Planet of Lana II, Dune: Awakening, Minecraft Dungeons II, and Gears of War: E-Day across the rest of the month and into early October. The full schedule is laid out in Xbox Wire’s official September 15 announcement, which also confirms RuneScape: Dragonwilds is available now.
The update gives subscribers a substantial run of day-one and catalog additions, but availability depends on the Game Pass tier and platform. Several games join Ultimate and PC Game Pass, while others also arrive in Premium, and the Xbox Wire list identifies cloud, console, handheld, and PC support for each entry. That distinction matters more than the headline count if you are planning what to install this week.
The September 29 and October 6 headliners
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is the wave’s immediate addition. It is available on cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass. The co-operative survival adventure takes place on Ashenfall, where players gather resources, build, craft, and face dragons while working toward the Dragon Queen.
September 16 brings four games to the service. Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a beat ’em up with 15 Marvel heroes, and arrives on cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld, and PC. Planet of Lana II follows Lana and Mui through a cinematic puzzle adventure on the same platforms. Routine is a first-person science-fiction horror game set on an abandoned lunar base, with cloud, console, handheld, and PC versions. Ultimate Sheep Raccoon rounds out the day with a bike-racing party game in which players build the course together, adding obstacles and traps before racing their friends.
Kernel Hearts and Ninja Gaiden 4 arrive September 17. The former is an action RPG with roguelike elements, optional co-op, and four playable magical characters, while the latter brings the long-running ninja action series to cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld, and PC through the Premium tier and Game Pass services listed by Xbox.
Dune: Awakening is set for September 22 on cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld, and PC. Funcom’s survival game combines exploration, building, crafting, and role-playing systems with a story set on Arrakis. It is included with Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass. For more immediate release context, PixelTempo’s earlier September Game Pass wave coverage tracks the games that arrived at the start of the month.
Minecraft Dungeons II follows on September 29 for cloud, console, handheld, and PC. Xbox describes the sequel as a day-one Game Pass release, with players entering the Sift, fighting unfamiliar threats, and customizing their gear for tougher battles. It is included with Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Keeper, a wordless story about a lighthouse and a seabird, arrives October 2 through Premium and the other tiers named in the announcement.
The biggest late-wave addition is Gears of War: E-Day on October 6. The prequel campaign is set 14 years before the original Gears of War and follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as the Locust Horde emerges. It is listed as a day-one release for Xbox Series X|S, handheld, PC, and cloud through Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
Games leaving on September 30
Xbox will remove eight games on September 30: Atomfall, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Little Nightmares 2 Enhanced Edition, Little Rocket Lab, Sifu, SOPA Tale of the Stolen Potato, Sworn, and Terminull Brigade. Subscribers who want to keep playing them can buy them at the listed member discount before they leave.
The wave also includes a September 25 Game Pass Essential release for Rematch, an EA Play early-access trial for EA Sports FC 27 on September 18, a free-play weekend for Sea of Thieves from September 17 to 21, and a Brawlhalla benefits pack on September 17. The next few weeks therefore mix full games, trials, a temporary access window, and in-game rewards rather than one uniform type of addition. PixelTempo’s previous Game Pass wave report offers a useful comparison for readers following the service month by month.
