Dovetail Games has announced Train Sim World 7, the next entry in its long-running rail simulation series, during the Gamescom Opening Night Live pre-show on August 25 (Dovetail Games official announcement). The studio confirmed a September 15, 2026 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with pre-orders live now.
The reveal was accompanied by the game’s first trailer and a publisher press release (Games Press). Train Sim World 7 will arrive on Steam Deck at launch, a first for the franchise, and players who pre-order the Deluxe or Ultimate editions get Early Access starting September 10.
The headline addition is the German ICE 4 high-speed train, one of the most requested locomotives in the series’ history. It reaches 265 km/h and runs a 105 km stretch between Nürnberg and Würzburg, joining the GP49H-3, BL36PH, DB BR 440, and the Class 333 and 331 locomotives across a trio of new routes.
Three new routes
Train Sim World 7 ships with three brand-new lines. The Airedale and Wharfedale Network covers commuter hills around Leeds, Bradford, Skipton, and Ilkley in Yorkshire. The Bahnstrecke Nürnberg to Würzburg line winds through lower Bavaria with regular ICE traffic. The Florida Tri-Rail connects Miami Airport, Fort Lauderdale, and Boca Raton along the South Florida coast.
Each route anchors a different flavour of service: steady regional and long-distance runs in Germany, dense commuter traffic in northern England, and sun-soaked commuter and freight work in Miami. The lineup leans into player-requested content that earlier entries teased but never shipped.
New modes and a friendlier drive
A new Freight Hauler Mode gives players a sandbox-style freight experience, letting them marshal cargo to its destination without fixed instructions or timetables. The Live Weather feature syncs in-game conditions to the real-world weather at your location, so a rainy Yorkshire afternoon translates directly into the cab.
For newcomers, an all-new Simplified Controls option strips driving down to an accelerator and brake, while existing players keep full manual systems. On PC, a new “Epic” graphics preset raises visual fidelity, lighting, and draw distances, and Dovetail says load times and camera response improve as well. Pricing sits at $44.99 for the Standard Edition, $71.99 for Deluxe, and $116.99 for Ultimate after the 10 percent pre-order discount. Dovetail also teased more during its Dovetail Direct: Summer 2026 stream, which followed the announcement.
