Graceful Decay has revealed Uncanyon, a puzzle-first adventure coming to PlayStation 5 in 2027. The team behind Maquette says its new game is built around ruins, traps, and a world where alternate realities overlap. The studio’s official PlayStation Blog reveal introduces Sonia, an outsider who arrives in the strange land and gradually learns why it needs her.

The announcement places Uncanyon in a forgotten world formed from converging “unparallel universes.” That unusual setting is more than background decoration. Graceful Decay is using the collision between realities as the central tool for exploration, with each new discovery changing how players read the spaces around them. It gives the game a clear identity ahead of its 2027 launch, even though a more precise release date has not been announced.

A heroine under pressure

Sonia begins as a stranger to Uncanyon, looking for excitement rather than accepting a grand heroic destiny. The story shifts when she starts to understand the role the land expects her to play. Graceful Decay describes that tension through the pressure of family expectations and the invisible obligations created by social media, giving the adventure a personal concern alongside its fantasy plot.

That framing could make Sonia’s journey feel different from a standard chosen-one story. The official reveal does not promise a fixed set of moral choices or describe the ending, so the confirmed detail is narrower: the character is aware of the weight placed on her and the writing will follow that uncertainty in real time. The developers say the same idea shaped the world design around her.

The project also continues an interest in spaces that reward close observation. Graceful Decay’s previous game, Maquette, used recursive scale as its defining idea. Uncanyon moves from changing size to changing reality, but the reveal suggests the team’s focus remains on asking players to notice details before they commit to a solution. PixelTempo’s indie games coverage has followed similar puzzle-led projects that make their mechanics part of the setting rather than a separate set of challenges.

Rooms that can exist in several states

Temples and ruins across Uncanyon are protected by locks, traps, and mechanical puzzles left behind by earlier inhabitants. Sonia gathers tools and discoveries as she explores, building a small kit that can be applied to increasingly involved vaults. The studio says it wants those puzzles to create real moments of recognition, where the solution only becomes obvious after a player understands another layer of the system.

The key system is called Reality Fragments. Devices powered by a substance called fragmentstone can shift alternate realities in and out of the current space. A doorway may be blocked in one version of a room and open in another. A hazard can disappear when one reality is blended away, but a different danger may appear elsewhere. The player can freeze the blend, inspect the resulting combination, and in some locations occupy multiple realities at once.

That makes each area a problem of timing as well as observation. Players will need to learn which version of a room offers a route, which one supplies a tool, and which one introduces a threat that must be managed before moving on. The reveal does not give a full map or list every tool, but it confirms that Reality Fragments will evolve as the adventure progresses instead of serving as a one-off story trick.

Graceful Decay says more information about Sonia’s story, the regions in the world, and the growth of the Reality Fragment system is still to come. For now, Uncanyon is scheduled for PS5 in 2027, joining the year’s growing list of announced adventures tracked in PixelTempo’s game release calendar.
