Ubisoft’s free Last Rites update for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands adds a new La Llorona mission, more customisation options, and current-console performance improvements. The official update announcement also brings back the Predator mission and removes some older crate-based monetisation from the game.
The update launched on August 7 as part of Ghost Recon’s 25th-anniversary programme. Ubisoft’s separate official anniversary announcement included a time-limited free-play period and a Future Soldier giveaway. Those promotions ended in August, so they are historical context rather than current access promises.
The Last Rites mission and unlocks
Last Rites introduces La Llorona, a cult leader presented as a new threat in Bolivia. The mission can be started from the main menu and does not require the main campaign to be completed first. Finishing it unlocks two new Operator Skins and one Iconic Skin. Ubisoft also made a range of previously paid items available by default, including the renamed Scott Mitchell and John Kozak skins.
Performance and customisation changes
On current-generation consoles, Ubisoft added a 4K and 60 FPS mode with improved responsiveness and smoother performance. The result is a technical option for supported hardware, not a claim that every platform or display receives the same output.
The update adds Ghost Parameters and separate difficulty controls for enemy firepower and vehicle breakability. New HUD toggles and World and Session Settings let a host adjust time of day, weather, faction patrol density, and friendly fire. These controls give returning players more ways to shape a session without changing the core campaign progression.
Predator content and edition changes
Ubisoft reactivated The Jungle Moved, the free Predator mission in Caimanes Province. Its completion rewards include the Predator Bio-Mask and previously locked Predator-themed challenge items. The Predator Pack returned to the in-game store, and Ubisoft also listed a new Predator Premium Pack DLC.
The update also introduced a Definitive Edition containing the base game and earlier Season Pass, Year 2 Pass, Quick Start Pack, and Deluxe Pack content, alongside the Cold Eye and Nightfall Protocol cosmetic packs. Existing players can buy those packs separately or use the Definitive Edition Upgrade. Battle Crates and Prestige Crates were removed from sale, with their contents reorganised into Collections, reduced-price options, or default unlocks depending on the item.
What was temporary
The free-play period for Wildlands and Breakpoint ran until August 10, and the Future Soldier giveaway required a Ubisoft Connect login by August 13. The anniversary stream was also time-limited. Those dates should not be presented as active offers now. The lasting part of the update is the mission, settings, performance mode, returning Predator content, and revised treatment of the older crate items.
