Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 has a release date. Cold Iron Studios announced the sequel to its co-op survival shooter will launch August 25 on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The standard edition will cost $49.99, with a Premium Edition at $69.99 that includes bonus skins and weapon variants.
The announcement was shared by the developer and confirmed on the game's official Steam page. It marks the first major update since the studio began teasing the sequel earlier this year.
AFE2 drops up to four players into the boots of Colonial Marines deployed to the most hostile corners of the Aliens universe. The game is designed around team-based survival rather than solo action, with deeper squad mechanics and smarter enemies that adapt to player tactics. Every room could be your last, according to the studio's description, as Xenomorphs stalk corridors, ambush from shadows, and swarm in overwhelming numbers.
Five unique classes return with significant upgrades, and a new Specialist endgame class allows fully customized Marine builds. Cross-platform co-op is supported across all platforms at launch, with cross-platform voice chat included. An updated horde mode adds additional challenges and fresh rewards for players who want extended replayability beyond the campaign.
Weapon customization has been expanded through fire modes, Augments, and unique Weapon Traits that let players tailor every weapon to their playstyle. The sequel promises more classes and more build variety than the original, with each class bringing distinct tactical possibilities to the battlefield.
The original Aliens: Fireteam Elite launched in 2021 as a third-person co-op shooter built around the Aliens franchise. Cold Iron Studios, a team of veteran developers, positioned the first game as a tactical survival experience rather than a run-and-gun shooter. The sequel builds on that foundation with expanded class systems, deeper combat mechanics, and the new cross-platform infrastructure that removes barriers between friend groups on different platforms.
Pre-orders are live now on Steam, PlayStation Store, and the Xbox Store. The August 25 launch puts AFE2 in a crowded late-summer window, but the Aliens franchise and the co-op shooter niche give it a distinct audience.
