Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls launched its open beta on July 24 for both PS5 and PC, but the PC version has immediately run into severe performance problems that have players and Arc System Works scrambling for solutions.

The issues range from widespread stuttering and frame drops to input lag and settings menus that refuse to load, with even players on high-end hardware reporting subpar experiences. One Reddit user called it "one of the worst PC ports" they had seen in recent memory, labeling the problems "inexcusable" and vowing not to purchase the game until they are resolved.

Arc System Works has acknowledged the situation, posting a statement on the game's official Twitter account confirming it is "aware" of the issues affecting the PC version and is actively investigating. The statement included troubleshooting steps for affected players, though effectiveness varies depending on the specific problem each user is encountering.

The open beta represents the last major playtest before the fighting game's full release next month. PS5 players have reported a smooth experience with access to the full roster of playable characters, new modes, and the standard Arc System Works online lobby. PC players, by contrast, have described the experience as "all over the place," with some unable to even access the game's settings to adjust performance options.

This is not the first controversy for Marvel Tokon. The game previously drew criticism for mandatory PlayStation Network requirements that locked out players in certain regions, and its combat systems underwent significant tweaks after initial playtests failed to land with the community. The PC port issues add another layer of concern ahead of launch.

The problems appear to stem partly from aggressive anti-tampering measures. Twitter user WistfulHopes noted the beta is "super locked down" and "hyper hostile" to non-standard setups, likely implemented to prevent datamining. If that is the case, Arc System Works may need to find a way to balance security with performance ahead of the full release.

For a studio that built its reputation on Dragon Ball FighterZ and Guilty Gear Strive, both celebrated for their PC ports, the performance gap is particularly striking. Arc System Works has a track record of delivering polished fighting game experiences on PC, making the current state of Marvel Tokon's beta all the more surprising.

The open beta runs through the coming days on both platforms. Whether Arc System Works can resolve the issues before the game's August launch will determine if Marvel Tokon arrives as the polished fighter fans expected or if it becomes another cautionary tale about PC port quality.
