ArenaNet has announced Guild Wars 3, confirming the next main entry in its long-running online RPG series. The official Guild Wars 3 website has details on the setting, gameplay, and platforms.
What ArenaNet Announced
The game takes players to an earlier version of Tyria, focused on the frontier of Orr before the events that define the existing games. Players will join the Vaelwardens, a guild built around protecting the land, its people, and the nature spirits connected to Orr.
ArenaNet is positioning the sequel as a modern evolution of the MMO. The official pitch emphasizes solo play, group adventuring, character building, skill collection, and a world designed around lasting relationships with other players and key non-player characters.
Movement and Combat
The announcement puts a clear spotlight on traversal. Guild Wars 3 will let players glide, ride, leap, sprint, and wall-run across Orr, with momentum carrying between different forms of movement. Each player will also have a Seeker, a Vael spirit that serves as both mount and connection to the magic of Orr.
Combat is being designed for both controller and mouse-and-keyboard play. ArenaNet says the system will focus on strategic skill use, positioning, and movement, pairing action RPG combat with the build-making identity that has long defined Guild Wars.
Platforms, Beta, and Release Timing
Guild Wars 3 is planned for PC and PlayStation 5, with wishlist pages available now. ArenaNet has not announced a full release date, but newsletter sign-ups include a chance to join beta tests when they begin in fall 2027.
More details are expected in the coming weeks, including deeper looks at Orr, the Six Gods, Arah, and the broader timeline. For now, the announcement sets the next Guild Wars game as a prequel with a heavier focus on traversal, action combat, and a shared world built around player movement.
Guild Wars 3 was officially announced by ArenaNet during a June 2026 presentation. Titled Ancient Orr, the third installment returns to the sunken continent of Orr, which has resurfaced following the events of End of Dragons. The game uses Unreal Engine 5 and promises seamless open world exploration without loading screens between zones.
