Jagex opened the Moonrise Archaeology dig site on Havenhythe on 15 June 2026. The official news post is the source for everything below, and this page sticks to what Jagex has published.

Where Moonrise is and how to get in

Moonrise is a First Age temple on the cliffs above Amberfell’s forests, in the Havenhythe region. Access has two requirements: complete the Secrets of Amberfell quest, then begin excavating at level 52 Archaeology or higher.

The site is split into two brackets. The Temple Exterior covers levels 52 to 75, and the Temple Interior covers levels 82 to 88. Jagex’s post describes the site as having six excavation hotspots across those brackets, from Lunar wheel debris at 52 up to the Blood altar at 88.

What the update adds

Moonrise introduces a new Guthixian cultural category to Archaeology. Jagex lists five new Guthixian materials and a new soil type, 15 new artefacts across two collections, and five new mysteries to solve.

The three rewards

Hungry Like the Wolf relic

Increases the base amount healed by food items by 100 and removes adrenaline penalties, which makes eating during combat a more viable healing option.

Necromancy ritual ring

Crafted from materials found in the temple interior combined with a moonstone ring. It boosts Soul Attraction and disturbance rewards for Necromancy rituals.

Divine guardian pet

A cosmetic pet obtained by solving the dig site’s mysteries.

Quick checklist

Complete the Secrets of Amberfell quest. Reach level 52 Archaeology. Excavate the Temple Exterior from 52, then move to the Temple Interior at 82. Assemble artefacts across the two Guthixian collections, solve the five mysteries for the divine guardian pet, unlock the Hungry Like the Wolf relic, and craft the Necromancy ritual ring from interior materials.

For the full artefact lists, mystery walkthroughs and hotspot-by-hotspot detail, the official announcement remains the source of record.
