ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, bringing FromSoftware’s open-world action RPG and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion to Nintendo’s current console. The official Bandai Namco announcement also confirms that new classes, armor, and Torrent customization are launching for players on other platforms.
Nintendo’s launch-day guide confirms the Switch 2 version is available now and includes the additional gear and Torrent skins. It describes a package built around both the original journey through the Lands Between and the Realm of Shadow expansion, rather than a cut-down port or a separate side story.
A complete Elden Ring package on Switch 2
The Tarnished Edition combines the base game with Shadow of the Erdtree. That gives new players the main campaign, its open-world map, and the expansion’s separate adventure in one release. Nintendo’s description highlights the game’s mix of open fields, dense dungeons, hidden routes, and dangerous bosses, with players free to move on foot or ride Torrent as they build a character around weapons, magic, and skills.
The Switch 2 release also preserves the game’s online options. Players can explore alone or with other Tarnished, and Nintendo says its online features require a Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Account. The official pre-launch overview describes cooperative play with up to two other players, alongside invasions, duels, and the three Colosseums. Those details make the handheld and docked versions part of the same connected Elden Ring experience rather than an isolated edition.
The new content is not locked to Nintendo
The main platform-specific addition is the Heavy Knight and Idus Knight, which join the starting-class roster in Tarnished Edition. The release also adds four armor sets, including the two sets associated with the new classes, plus three new appearance options for Torrent. The changes affect how a new character begins and how an existing player can personalize a familiar journey, but they do not replace the original classes or the expansion’s story.
Players who already own ELDEN RING on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC through Steam can buy the same group of additions as the Tarnished Pack. Bandai Namco says the pack is available from the launch date, so the new classes, armor, and Torrent skins are not exclusive to the Switch 2 hardware. The publisher’s announcement also says the original game has sold more than 30 million units, underlining the size of the audience being invited back.
That invitation lands in a game whose appeal is still rooted in discovery. Tarnished Edition is the original single-player adventure and its expansion, with optional online play, while the new pack extends the same character-building and mount-customization options across the existing platforms.
ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition launched on August 28, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2. The included Shadow of the Erdtree expansion and the cross-platform Tarnished Pack make this a simultaneous new release for Switch 2 owners and a smaller content update for players who already own the original game.
