Insomniac Games has published a detailed features trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine, showing how Logan’s combat, abilities, suits, and accessibility options fit together before the game’s September 15 launch on PlayStation 5. The studio’s official PlayStation.Blog breakdown adds systems detail to the footage and confirms that the release is only a few weeks away.

The update is a different kind of milestone from the game’s recent gold announcement, which we covered in our report on the locked 1.0 build. Rather than focus on manufacturing, Insomniac explains what players will actually do with Logan’s claws, upgrades, and recovery tools once they enter the original story.

Rage makes aggression a build choice

Combat is built around momentum. Logan can chain claws, kicks, barrages, and critical strikes, then expand his options with Techniques and rechargeable Special Techniques. Insomniac gives Tornado Spin, Knee Breaker, and Spiral Strike as examples, and says four Special Techniques can be equipped at once. That setup leaves room to tune a loadout instead of treating every encounter as a fixed sequence of attacks.

Adaptations add another layer to that choice. The trailer’s accompanying details describe dozens of upgrades that can let Logan absorb more bullets, make Rage more effective, widen parry windows, or frighten enemies during a fight. Rage itself is a three-tiered adrenaline pool built around survivability, resilience, and fury. Players can spend it to make a last stand or push into a berserk state that sustains the resource through relentless attacks.

That design suits the character without reducing every fight to a damage race. A player who is struggling can emphasize survival and recovery, while someone who is comfortable taking risks can use Rage to keep a battle moving forward. The official description does not promise a choice between separate campaign paths, but it does point to a combat system that can be adjusted around a preferred style.

The story sends Logan around the world as Bolivar Trask advances a plan against mutantkind. Jean Grey and members of Team X join him at a moment when there are too few mutants to form safe havens or an organized heroic group. Omega Red and Deathstrike are among the villains Insomniac names, giving the campaign threats that reach beyond a single location.

Between those conflicts, Logan can use his senses to find Nightmare Doors, which lead to combat and traversal challenges. Whisky bottles reveal pieces of his forgotten memories, while material crates help him craft suits inspired by comics, films, animation, and Insomniac’s own designs. The wardrobe includes the original Battle Reborn suit, Weapon X, Old Man Logan, Ultimate Wolverine, Patch, and civilian options such as a tank top or leather jacket. Some cowls and hats can be toggled on or off, and the claw selection includes bone, notched, curved, reflective, and angled variants.

Those cosmetic and equipment details sit alongside the Battle Yellow hardware line that Sony announced earlier this month. Our coverage of the limited-edition Wolverine PS5 bundle covers the console and controller, while the new trailer focuses on items found inside the game.

Launch features go beyond the campaign

Insomniac also lists a set of activities for Logan’s Nightmare Cabin. New Game Plus adds exclusive Techniques and Level Caps, Mission Replay lets players revisit story sections, and Nightmare Challenges track high scores. Photo Mode is planned for a day-one update, so it will not be part of the initial disc build without that download.

The game includes more than 100 new, returning, and improved accessibility features from earlier Insomniac projects. The examples listed by the studio include high-contrast visuals, English audio description, a global game-speed setting, and stronger haptic signals. Players can also adjust new violence and adult-language categories that affect dynamic blood, dismemberment, and English-only language filters. The official announcement provides the studio’s full list.

Marvel’s Wolverine launches on September 15, 2026, on PS5. The official announcement directs players to the PlayStation Store, PS Direct, or retailers, and says the Digital Deluxe Edition includes additional suits, claws, and bonuses.
