Helldivers 2 is now available to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, leading the August Game Catalog lineup, Sony announced on Wednesday. The co-op shooter joins the service today worldwide, while the rest of the month’s additions, including Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and Vampire Survivors, roll out from August 18, according to the PlayStation Blog announcement.
Helldivers 2’s catalog debut coincides with the Devoid of Liberty update, a large content drop that sends players into the Illuminate Void with new missions, new secondary objectives and new mutated enemy types. The update follows earlier work on the live service, including the anti-cheat system Arrowhead Game Studios introduced to target Super Credit exploiters, which we covered at the time.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and more land August 18
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II brings the medieval RPG to the service on PS5, following Henry of Skalitz from a humble blacksmith’s forge to the court of kings across an open-world rendition of 15th-century Bohemia torn by civil war. Vampire Survivors, the gothic horror roguelite on PS5 and PS4 in which a single run can see players snowball against hundreds of monsters at once, joins alongside it.
Sony also confirmed five more titles for later in the month, with most arriving August 25 in the US, the UK and Japan. Hell is Us is a third-person action-adventure with a semi-open world, starring a United Nations peacekeeper who goes absent without leave to search for his missing parents in an isolated country ravaged by infighting. Two Point Museum puts players in charge of a museum, sending partially trained experts on expeditions to bring back rare artefacts for display, with an exclusive special exhibit awaiting at a new expedition location. Metro Exodus continues 4A Games’ story-driven post-apocalyptic shooter series, and Dying Light 2 adds an open-world survival action game set in a city overrun by a virus. Umamusume Pretty Derby: Party Dash completes the wave with a pixel-art party game built around the Slapdash Grand Prix, a school festival made up of four zany events from hurtling hurdles to gourmet gauntlet.
Helldivers 2 itself is a multiplayer co-op shooter in which up to four players fight for Super Earth against an alien scourge, with friendly fire always on and liberty delivered at the end of the biggest, most explosive tools in the galaxy. Sony says the service’s lineup can differ by region, so players should check the PlayStation Store on release day for their local selection.
Classics join PlayStation Plus Premium
PlayStation Plus Premium adds two older titles this month. Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, originally released on PS2, follows Soki, a young warrior wielding a dark power, and his allies as they take on the demonic Genma in a Feudal Japan thrown into chaos after Oda Nobunaga’s demise. Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire, originally on the original PlayStation, sees Milo Thatch lead a team of experts to unlock the secrets of the lost empire, arriving with up-rendering, rewind, quick save and custom video filters.
The monthly refresh continues the pattern set in July, when Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora joined the Game Catalog.
